TECHNICAL DESIGN MANAGER

Title: Technical Design Manager

Location: Crystal City, VA

Duration: contract-to-hire, 6-12 mo, then hiring.

 

to help with designing Client's next generation web platform.

 

Thorough knowledge of current web & mobile device design/UI/UX trends; ability to design and create prototypes and mockups; ability to write end user requirements & technical requirements to hand off to developers, participate in requirements gathering for custom products and advise on design options for meeting customer needs; consult with business unit and Product Research & Development management and staff concerning design & technical matters; consult with client management on approaches to address business needs or opportunities; provide linkage and continuity to business units, development, operations, and technical support groups in the testing and implementation of recommendations; help plan, coordinate, and manage cross-departmental projects; help develop detailed project plans, schedules, and budget; monitor cost, timing, and staffing of project and modify schedules as required; help ensure projects are completed on time and within budget; prepare regular status reports; maintain knowledge of the information services industry and competitor products; participate in special projects; and perform other duties as assigned.

 

REQUIREMENTS:

Requires 5+ years’ experience in electronic product development and project management in a supervisory role; familiarity with user interface design principles; understanding of technologies and procedures for electronic product development; knowledge and understanding of Client products and markets; ability to organize and lead the work of others; excellent verbal and written communication skills; and exceptional interpersonal skills, including the ability to interact effectively with professional and technical staff, outside clients, and vendors. Bachelor’s in information science, information management, library science, or related subject area. Formal or on-the-job training in electronic publishing systems and technology is required.
